Daddy Tackles the Car Seat

We got a car seat from Target. The only assembly it needed was putting the canopy on. See how handy John is, and how helpful the cats are.

Merry Christmas!

Here's a picture of our Christmas tree! Didn't John do a great job with the setup and decorating? There aren't any gifts under it because we did not want them to be opened before Christmas by cats.

Part 2: The Crib

Apparently John doesn't like being in pictures.

Wow, he's good. This is going fast.

More helpful cats.

Almost done!

The finished product.

Baby Has Some Furniture

No baby album is complete without pictures of Dad assembling the crib. Our church gave us this brand new crib-dresser combo. Here is John putting the dresser together.

Bebe says, "I'll help!"

Now all we need are the drawers...

Baby Registry Info

We now have a baby registry at Target. You can view it at Target.com or in the store. Or, you know, get us whatever you want.

What our baby would look like if we were cats.

Daddy Bird Prepares the Nest

Here's John painting the nursery. We got a beautiful color called Sassy Lilac. Depending on the lighting, it looks anywhere from dusty purplish-blue to almost fuchsia.

Grandpa Bob helps, too.

Vacation: Close Encounter with a Giant Crustacean

This was our third day at the Mall and the first day John remembered his camera. I'm carrying bags from Teavana and Godiva.

This big pink guy is the mascot from Bubba Gump's Shrimp Company. It's a Forrest Gump-themed restaurant. I thought it (the concept) was cute, and the food was good.

And here's a 1927 Buick we saw in the parking lot. It was owned by Al Capone!

Vacation: World's Largest Truck Stop

You may know this already, but there are a lot of trucks in the Midwest. I guess it's "drive through" country. Consequently, there are a lot of truck stops. This one on I-80 in Iowa is apparently the largest in the world. They have a food court, rows of gift shops, even a trucking museum. They also have a movie theater, arcade, dentist, and every kind of truck accessory, along with DVDs, video games, and cowboy boots.

Look at all the truck stuff!

This room also contained several trucks. Sorry this is a Freightliner.

The blue one is my favorite.

It's a Girl!

It looks as if both parents and everybody who was brave enough to make a public conjecture was right. The ultrasound technician is "100% sure" that our baby is a girl.

And look! She resembles a baby now!

Everything is GREAT. She is very healthy and weighs about 12 ounces now, which we were told makes her estimated age 20 weeks and one day. I'm actually 20 weeks and four days. We bought some lavender paint for the nursery, which we are going to paint today.

Baby bump picture!

John took this picture of me yesterday, in our newly finished basement. The carpet is so soft. I had been asking him to take some "baby bump" pictures, but now I think I should have said "baby hill" or "baby boulder."

Unscientific tests have shown that our baby is a girl. The authorities involved are a woman at our church who performs a ritual with a hair and a wedding band, and our minister, who has a good track record with these things.
